Thanks to the support of Puma Energy Foundation, APROQUEN has been able to implement the first documented Burn Prevention Program in the Latin American region. This program seeks to reduce the number of burn-related hospitalizations in children through a two-prong approach that includes capacity building, public awareness and education.
In the last 6 years, APROQUEN has provided more than 16,000 children and 2,900 adults with burn prevention education in the 6 departments of Nicaragua (Managua, Masaya, Chinandega, Matagalpa, Granada, and Jinotega) with the highest incidence of burns.
